Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah

I need to take a moment to wish you all a happy holiday.

I am not a huge fan of the commercial aspects of our holidays, but certainly I am thankful for all I have – and that includes everyone that comes onto the website (whether it be lurkers or those that participate through commenting).

2022 has been a difficult year for investors, but we have all learned over the years that we go through good times and difficult times, but patience will generally be rewarded.

A special shoutout to InspBudget wishing you a speedy recovery. InspBudget is a longtime participant on this website and on others and shared that he (or she) suffered a debilitating stroke back in August and is just rejoining us. Comments are over in the sandbox.

  1. As mostly a lurker here, I am thankful for finding this site earlier this year. I have been unable to find sites that focus on preferred stocks and baby bonds as this site does, and I thank all for sharing their knowledge. Maybe in time I will be able to contribute more to this investment theme as I gain more insight and experience from the wonderful contributors on this site. Thanks to all. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year.

  2. Merry Christmas and may God bless you all. Have a safe and wonderful Christmas. I appreciate the valuable input that I receive from posters on this site. I enjoy Tim McP’s thoughtful insight.

You need to check out the new IRS rules ( just delayed ) that state receiving over $600 annually via PayPal, etc will trigger a taxable situation. I am not sure of the specifics but I believe you would have to prove the ‘donations’ are not income. Unless you already have done so. This is info for you, not for posting. Thanks.

    1. Hi Howard- yes I saw that–but regardless we report everything as gross income–I have 3 business type company’s and for years even when I get cash payments we always report them.

  4. Thank you Tim. I’m mostly a lurker here but very thankful for this site and all that I learn from the articles and everyone’s comments. I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2023.

Best wishes to you and the family this holiday season.

2022 was a first class spanking but we got through it.
Time to enjoy family, food and some good whisky.
Let’s also remember those less fortunate than us and try to help in our own way.

    Peace to all.
