Will be interesting on the 2nd q call if EQC says anything other than ‘evaluating options’ and previous ‘may wind up (liquidate) if none are available , soon” .. hold a slug of EQC-D as prev noted here juicing cash type rates w 6.5%. Still trimming round the edges in common holdings and not finding much in pfd/bb’s of interest.
I guess Hovnanian HOV got caught up in the small cap rotation thesis buzz going on now big jump yesterday, possible helped by lower mtge rates and then add the recent ratings upgrades by two agencies on it..the non cum HOVNP still anchored around 18, which I am long. With concentrated ownership by Ara H. and limited float, if they can keep on track w the turnaound and stay disciplinec, do they turn into an NVR type winner in the volatile housing space?? we’ll see. Of course I watch closely as it is a risky pfd for sure. Oldsters like me probably remember ‘Ryan Homes’ which morphed into NVR and NVR with a chart like Nvidia long term! memories.. Bea
Bea, certainly remember Ryan homes. When I was selling hardwood a lot of my customers were doing cabinets and floors for all the big names building subdivisions in northern California. A lot of them bit the bullet as they had to build the cabinets ahead to deliver on time and they were left with the finished product when subdivisions were shut down and cancelled. A lot of sub- contractors were not even paid for work done. So of course they couldn’t pay their suppliers.
Lux Urban Issuing equity at 17 cents? The underwriting commissions are usually higher than that! Wonder who bought the stock maybe they think it is better than buying a lottery ticket? Can buy almost 12 shares for the price of a Powerball tkt.LOL
There is a sucker born every minute!
P.T.Barnum
LUXH was a bargain at $0.17. The stock is over $0.20 now, for a 15%+ return in just a few days. There were some suckers I’m sure, but the new buyers weren’t among them so far.
Im not saying I would do this but I know people and firms that do:
Short millions of shares into the offering at one broker, then buy the offering and transfer shares to cover the short.
This violates Rule 205m if the short is within 5 days of the offering.
that would be stupid and obviously illegal, and very easy to catch.
