Donation Capabilities Now Active

After a year or two of considering adding ‘donation’ capabilities I have now launched the donation page.

Donations are an alternative to advertising supported websites–which is what the old ‘Yield Hunter‘ website was, or to subscription based websites. Neither of these models are very attractive to me. Advertising takes up too much ‘real estate’ on the web page, while subscription limits the amount of participation in the commenting section and this is key (in my mind) to providing a needed exchange of ideas.

I have received a few donations already—I received one in the snail mail from a very generous individual and others from folks who somehow found my donation page before I announced it. I am hopeful that we will have strong participation in donations so that I can make some needed updates and expansions of the website. I have no idea at all if a ‘donation’ page can generate much money, but I guess we will find out.

The donation page has the capabilities to accept ‘one time donations’ or to accept monthly ‘recurring’ donations which seems to be a good option.

Note that the only information I receive is a name and a email address. Processing is through Paypal (and of course they take a processing fee).

Thanks in advance for everyone’s support–we have a great community of contributors.

  1. Tim – Please disregard my previous post. I was able to donate using my
credit card. Looks like it went through with no problems.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to you and your whole family. Thank you for all that you do to make this website community a great place!!

    1. Thanks Bigbear–certainly appreciate it and the efforts it took to ‘get it done’. Happy holidays to you as well.

  2. Master Card worked fine. I don’t like Pay Pal

Innovative Income Investor is an essential resource for its data and its blog. Thank you all!

  3. Guys: 9:29 AM EST
I tried PP without logging in with a debit card and it rejected twice on Chrome.
I tried a Fire Fox browser and the same result.
I’ll try the computer at work next week.
    Happy holidays all.

    1. Hi Newman–I’ll do some checking and see what I can find out. Needless to say I am not too versed in potential issues. Thanks for trying.

  4. Tim,
Most happy to contribute! Your hard work to make this site so valuable and often entertaining is very much appreciated.
    Joel

  5. Tim-
Glad to help pay for your great service.
Zelle could be even better for you – if you could use it.
    Any alternative to paypal?

    1. Gary–thank you for being here. Not sure on Zelle. I do have Venmo–I will post more info on it.

  6. Tim… Donation sent via PayPal. Thanks to you and to all contributors. Happy holidays to all.

    1. I made a donation with PayPal with one time. When I tried to change it to monthly, it bombed out, apparently PayPal thought someone was not right with message alerting me to try later. I will use monthly starting January using Paypal monthly. It should work fine. I use PayPal a lot. Tim’s website is the best of all income investing IMHO. Merry Christmas to Tim and his family, AND all the people appearing on his website, Gridbird my friend and his girlfriend.

    2. lucky–thanks for being here and your contribution. Happy holidays to you as well.

    1. Hi Potter – will get you some information. Thanks for asking and for participating.

  7. Great, highly educational site going back to its earlier incarnation. Mostly facts, those well-designed spreadsheets and just enough even-handed opinion to keep it interesting and thought-provoking. Pay Pal worked great for me. Keep up the fine work!

    1. I was about to contribute but read all these posts. We cant just pay via credit card option without using Paypal?

      1. Ok, just contributed. You dont need a paypal account, just use the credit card option. That is what I did and didnt set up Paypal account,

    2. Hi Bea – will get something to you. Thanks for being here – I very much appreciate your participation.

      1. Nevermind Tim I figured it out used a credit card of a relative ((I try to protect my identity as I had a huge bad experience in early days of social media)) I cancelled paypal a while ago it got hacked or something (I wasnt using it) and I still get spam/fishing emails from that result! Thank God for VPNs. ))

Thanx again for Yield Hunter and III. Merry Christmas Timmo! Bea

  8. Tim, I too use this site daily but no not comment, but read all of them. there is a lot of wisdom on this site. appreciate all your hard work. i managed to donate with PayPal very easy but would also rather send you a check in the future.

    1. Railroader Jeff — thank you very much. The vast majority of folks don’t comment, but just the same I know you are out there. I will get some future info out there for mailing.

  9. Tim, donation page worked fine for me. Thank you for your hard work.Merry Christmas to you and all others on this site.

    1. Thank you very much John 907. Your contribution is very much appreciated. Merry Christmas to you.

  10. I would be happy to send you a check if you would give me a snail mail address Tim. You certainly are entitled to a large donation. I wouldn’t miss a day without checking this valuable site. Have a Christmas.

  11. no, paypal or credit cards, only plastic debit card for groceries and walmart never used online and refuse to in future, just old school checks and cash.? any ideas please advise?

    1. Hi Mike – thanks for your participation–for years. I will get you an address.

  12. Grid—with all the money you’re making, the next time you vacation in the Caribbean, you need to go to St. Barts. That’s where the jet setters vacation. You could be down there rubbing elbows with the elite!

    1. Ha, Randy, I like cheap! Or at least relative cheap. Stayed at a nice condo in the St. John Cruz Bay harbor via VBRO and airfare combined for under $4k for a week. They have great happy hours on St John and reasonable food restuarant prices. And few people which I like, ha.

  13. Tim could you e mail me your PayPal or street address?
My PayPal account got hacked last week and it was a nightmare. I am a little leery so I just want to make sure I am sending the donation to the right address.
    Thanks for all you do.

    Happy Holidays,
    Jeff

    1. Hi JB/AZ – yes I will get you something in the next couple days. Thanks for your support and participation.

  14. Hi Tim; The donation page worked fine. Thanks for the opportunity to contribute. It is a true honor to acknowledge your hard work. I visit this site every day as well as in the past with your old yield hunter site.

Merry Christmas to you and your family and a prosperous 2023 to all who visit III.

    1. Thank you Gary Alexander–thanks for your participation over the years. Merry Christmas you as well.

  15. Tim, Appears my WF account does not want to work with PP. Do you have an alternative like Zelle?

    1. Hi alpha – thanks for trying. I will get some other options Thanks for your participation over the years.

  16. Tim,
Pay pal says there are problems with my account.
    They won’t process my Donation.
I tried to fix it and could not. I have not used that account in 10 years or so.
The email address and bank acct that I used back when are both not around.

If you don’t mind snail mail, I’ll be happy to send you a check or gift card.
    You have my email
    Edward

    1. I too would like the snail mail option rather than use PYPL. Would mail some gift cards to thank you for all the work you put into this site.

I am sure there are others who read content here, who would also rather donate anonymously for compliance and other reasons…

      1. Tim – I do not have a pay pal account. I would like to donate with a check to you in the US mail.

Please let me know if this is possible. If not, then I’ll make my donation with a credit card.

        1. The same with me, Tim. I have no desire to use’ PayPal’ but will be happy to send a donation by direct credit card or personal check. Be glad to help you maintain this website. ( Suggest if you do not want to give out your address, then just open a post office box ). Thanks for great information here.

          1. Paypal easily allows payment via your credit card through the path that Tim created. You do not even have to log into paypal. I sure did not. Just pick the choice to pay via a credit card. Read it carefully as you proceed.

            1. fc – thank you for your donation and participation over the years – it is appreciated.

      2. Hi mSquare – I will get you another option in the next few days. Thanks for being here for years.

  17. Happy Holidays, Tim. Very glad to finally get the chance to donate to the best site on the internet. Best wishes to all.

  18. Tim

Just a heads up, I tried to set up a monthly donation via PayPal and the link was not working. I was successful in a one time donation.

I love this web site and am happy to contribute.

    Happy Holidays

    1. Same happened to me, so I made a one time contribution, but would like to have it setup to make a monthly contribution. This website is very informative!!! Thanks!!!

      1. Hi Brett – I appreciate your support very much and will check into the issue.

    2. Thanks Greg for the contribution and participation. I will be looking into the monthly issues.

  19. Tim,
Your site has provided valuable help to me in the few years I’ve been on it. I normally access it multiple times a day. I am one of your fans who appreciate the opportunity to give back through the donation process. Thanks for setting it up.
    Happy Holidays,
    Steve M.

  20. Tim, going to send in a few dollars, but I think the first use should be for you and the misses to head to Hawaii. Hopefully we can get you there before Christmas so you don’t freeze. The website updates can wait. . .

    1. Tex, I will follow you soon, but on treadmill now and can barely type, ha. Good advise on Hawaii. Just Monday I was on a beach in the ocean at St. John USVI and today Im back home facing the coldest temperature day (in the minuses) since 1989.

      1. Grid, the funny thing about me recommending Hawaii is that we used to be @ Whistler for Christmas every year. . .

        1. Tex, A shlep to get there but Whistler is terrific. Our annual was Tahoe or Mammoth, though last few year’s drought made for sketchy conditions. Now east-coasters, Jan and Feb will be in HA.

          1. Tahoe & the Sierras have a lot of snow- even had to close one day a couple weeks ago- blizzard on the slopes & 169mph winds rockin’ the chairs!

    2. Tex – haha. The funny thing is if I told my wife we would be ready to go in an instant – although I resist flights over 3 hours–at 6’8″ I can barely move after a long flight. Thanks for everything over the years–I truly appreciate it.

  21. Thank you for your efforts here. I am happy to help support this site – it is invaluable.

Happy Holidays and Prosperous New Year to all.

    Steve

  22. Happy to Support this wonderful site! Blessings to you Tim this Holiday Season and throughout 2023! Thank you for all that you so generously do!

      1. Tim this is way past due. I have been a loyal fan since you moved to this site. I always felt bad knowing how much time you have spent on this site to keep it going and updated. I visit everyday but don’t talk much.
My favorites are the preferreds lists.

        1. Thanks Twinjett–the majority of visitors don’t commnet, but just the same I appreciate them being here.
